HAECO Americas Spearheads Aviation Innovation in Greensboro-High Point

HAECO Cabin Solutions’ new aircraft devices could save aviation industry post COVID-19

HAECO Americas, the North American division of Hong Kong-based HAECO, is a global, world-class aviation company that supports aircraft carriers around the world. Headquartered in Guilford County, the company has been a prominent part of the region’s aviation sector for years and is now creating new solutions for the future of flying in Greensboro-High Point.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, major airlines are having to consider how to meet social distancing guidelines aboard planes while maximizing profitability – HAECO’s new Interior Stowage Devices enable airlines to do just that by using freight to distance passengers. These devices are the world’s first to combine passengers and freight in aircraft interiors without a physical barrier and were featured in Forbes as a solution for the future of flying post COVID-19.

HAECO’s four unique solutions build upon existing seating and interior technologies — optimizing passenger and cargo yield, while simultaneously maintaining proper weight and balance requirements. HAECO’s devices can be delivered in four to six weeks and follow techniques used for economy seating, which can be accomplished quickly and without the need for special tools.

Doug Rasmussen, President and Group Director of HAECO Cabin Solutions, says these devices not only enable airlines to optimize the number of passengers and the amount of cargo on each flight but will also be the first and only to enable combined cabins.

“We are actively engaged with over 70 airlines showing interest for both domestic and international aircraft, from smaller turbo-prop regional airplanes, to ultra-long range “wide-body” aircraft,” says Rasmussen.

As Guilford County companies continue to innovate amid the coronavirus pandemic, HAECO Americas is a testament to Greensboro-High Point’s resiliency. HAECO Americas joined the region in 2014 when HAECO acquired Guilford County’s TIMCO Aviation Services Inc. Founded in 1990, TIMCO had been one of the largest independent aircraft maintenance and repair organizations in the world.

Thanks to Guilford County’s robust aviation and manufacturing expertise, skilled workforce and logistics infrastructure, HAECO Americas has expanded its global presence since joining the region. Today, the company employs more than 2,100 individuals in the Triad region and through its Cabin Solutions operations and large presence at Piedmont Triad International Airport (PTI) in Greensboro-High Point, the company continues to be a global leader in spearheading industry innovation.
